It’s been a year already?

Posted December 15th, 2010 in Site Update by Clint

So today happens to be the one-year anniversary of Brain Over Brawn‘s publication (it’s also my birthday, how about that).  Due to that, I felt it was a good time to get in a post.

First off I’d like to apologize for the unannounced hiatus. Due to excessive travel, trials and tribulations and a focus of effort on other aspects of promoting the book that have had more feedback, a week turned into a month turned into “wait what?” Additionally, sorry to those who have been continuing to send the link to their friends who then check the front page and are like “wait, is this guy dead?” The numbers say they read it anyway, and I trust they’re glad for doing so.

Let me reassure you the book is still relevant (as downloads and sales will attest), and that I have returned (although advance warning, I’m about to go out of town again so updates won’t be as frequent until the new year).  Throughout my blogging absence I have continued to invest a significant amount of time responding to email and interacting with communities that foster discussion about the book (I’ll be changing up a few aspects of that as well to try and free up more time for a broader audience).

Let me also take this opportunity to mention Brain Over Brawn makes an excellent Christmas gift (Amazon is stocked up), especially for those who have announced their good intentions for their New Year’s resolution. What better gift than to help a friend or loved one get past all the last-night infomercial jazz and get right to what actually makes a difference.

Let me also say that if you’re waiting for the New Year to get started… you don’t have to. Getting started today is 2 weeks’ of poor eating and exercise habits that you won’t have to undo, and will get you a month or more closer to your goals. Start today.

Either way, best to you and yours. We’ll talk again soon.

New! Ask the Author section

Posted April 28th, 2010 in Ask the Author, Site Update by Clint

Over these past few months following the release of Brain Over Brawn, I’ve kept myself active answering questions via email and on various forums and threads online (most notably in my thread in the W&W forum on somethingawful). However, the difference between creating content and making it easily accessible to potential readers is one I will now attempt to address. So I’ll be creating new (and frequent) posts on my blog for “Ask the Author”, wherein I take questions from readers and my answers to them; this will not only provide additional content of interest for the site, but also may very well answer questions a visitor might have without them having to ask it themselves.

You may submit your own questions by posting in one of the threads I follow, by emailing to clint at brain over brawn dot com, by posting a reply, or pretty much anything else you can think of. I’ll figure it out. I’m going to see about getting a nice, easy little form too.

Posts to follow. Enjoy. (Considering the raw amount of text I hurf-blurf out in a given day, I’d like to think I can be a little less negligent toward this our lovely site).

Brain Over Brawn on Facebook

I (am pretty sure that I) have created a facebook fan page for the book.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Brain-Over-Brawn/369297664358

Since you can read it for free, it’s fairly easy for you to decide if you are likewise a fan. Feel free to “share” it, join up as a fan, or whatever else people can do with this thing.

I confess I don’t know a lot about the whole social networking scene as yet, so if you want to e-mail me regarding what I might have done wrong or other things I might do right to help get the word out regarding my book, you have my appreciation in advance.

free e-book version now available

Look I have no idea why it’s putting those weird squares on the edges of the pictures; we tried saving the pdf in a number of different dpis and styles and it’s just happening and we can’t stop it.  It isn’t like that in the original or the hardcopy, but you can still tell what’s going on. Just bear in mind I don’t have this square nose or square head or whatever, and that’s not a horrible photo-trimming job. It’s Adobe.

That said, hey it’s free. Go B A N A N A S. You can click here or hit the ‘Get the book.’ link on the bottom bar.

Pardon Our Dust

Please excuse the mess as we unroll our new and improved site to accompany the book “Brain Over Brawn: Smart solutions to regain and maintain health, strength & youth”, currently available at amazon.com and (very) select retailers. Our new site will include links to additional reading and references for nutrition and exercise, healthy cooking, and answers to questioned emailed to me regarding the book, health topics, and life at large. Also included will be miscellaneous debris from myself deemed relevant to the topic of this book.

As promised, the ebook will soon be available through this site. Amazon has received their first shipment from us and should be updating their stocks to ‘usually ships within 24 hours’ aaaany minute now. Quantities will be limited (by them, not by us) but we have requested they stock up and will keep you informed when it is more readily available.

Thank you for your interest in the book. Stay tuned for updates (we should have an RSS feed and other such frivolities in the very near future).
